The Gala Valley was a beautiful and prosperous place. For generations, the grounds there provided the plumpest fruits, the most exquisite flowers and the finest crops. The rocks provided priceless gems and crystals, and the water was the purest in the realm. The people of the valley were thriving, happy and carefree. When trading with the realm outside their borders, the only thing that stood in their way was a perpetual veil of storm known as The Ether. The Ether surrounded the valley like a great wall, never invading the valley, but always presenting a challenge to those who wished to venture outward.
When one day the storm surged to unimaginable intensity, a powerful ancient dragon appeared in its midst. It was known as the Gaas Feend. With its mighty talons and breath of fire it was determined to destroy any wagons attempting to travel through the Ether. With crops in danger of spoilage and flowers at risk of wilting under the Gass Feend’s crippling torments, the king met with his top advisors in the highest tower of Castle Gala to devise a solution. They knew that soon The Bearers of the Flare, the Holders of the Bi’nance Smart Chain, and the Keepers of the Polygon would banish the Gass Feend, but they needed to act more swiftly.
While the Ether raged on and the dragon prowled the stormy skies surrounding the valley, a great doorway in the ground opened at the king’s order. Upward through this doorway emerged the most massive armored airship the people of the Gala Valley had ever seen. The travelers, merchants and craftsmen filed one by one onto its decks, and before dark the airship had taken to the skies. Flying above the dreaded storm clouds of the Ether and out of the dragon’s reach, the people of the valley cheered as the king’s airship delivered its precious cargo to the outer realm. The Gass Feend cried out in rage, but there was nothing he could do, for he had been bested by the people of the Gala Valley.
